Blazer PT-4000 Pencil Butane Torch

Product Description

The Blazer PT4000 Pencil Torch is a pencil-shaped, refillable butane gas torch that creates a precise flame emitting from a nozzle head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is used for detailed purposes such as brazing, plumbing, soldering, jewelry making, culinary, and dental and lab applications.

The PT4000 has a slim, pencil-shaped design, intended for ease of portability and storage. It has a quick-start ignition ball, located at its base, for one-touch operation. The torch has a pull-down, retractable stand for hands-free work.

The torch houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection. Piezoelectric energy occurs when the trigger is activated, releasing a small, spring-loaded internal hammer that strikes a crystal, producing a spark and resulting in gas flame ignition.

With a maximum flame temperature of 2,500 degrees F, the PT4000 has a continuous burn time of approximately 30 minutes, at maximum fuel volume. It has a 4-gram gas capacity. The torch flame range is 0.75 to 2.0 inches. For safety purposes, it comes with a manual lock of the ignition, when not in use. It measures 6.0 (l) x 0.75 (d) inches, weighs 2.0 ounces and has a matte black body finish. This product is intended strictly for use in professional and industrial environments. In accordance with federal regulations, home use of this product is prohibited.

Since 1985, Blazer Products has created an array of professional and industrial tools and equipment. Located in Farmingdale, NY, the company manufactures a variety of micro torches and ultrasonic cleaners. Blazer Products is known worldwide for its original micro torch products.

The PT4000 Pencil Torch operates with a standard butane canister (sold separately).

This quality item works best with Vector highly filtered butane. My prior one clogged from using other butane.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Blazer PT-4000 pencil torch, January 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Blazer PT-4000 Pencil Butane Torch (Tools & Hardware)
Please see the BUT below!
Original review: {This is a sweet little pencil torch. It gets hotter and lasts longer than any other teeny torch (I've tried) that will fit in my pocket. :) I mean, it is not the torch of choice if you mean business but it is great for a PENCIL torch! I am going to make a new course up just for this torch. Silversmithing on the run!
I like it.}

BUT - after using it for a little while it clogged and would not accept butane. It seems it is supposed to use ONLY Blazer brand butane because the other brands (like Ronson and Zippo) are dirty and cause this clogging. It is apparently a very common problem and not fixable. - - - There is no mention of this in the description for the torch. Who knew???
